The Peace Country Beef & Forage Association is a non-profit, producer run group that strives to provide leading edge, credible and locally viable information to Peace Country producers, through our applied research and extension programs.  Our vision is to create agricultural systems that are profitable, regenerative, and self-sustaining. We bring together a network of innovative producers to discuss ideas and develop profitable and sustainable ways to produce forages and livestock.

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Agriculture Research Technician with a keen interest in science and innovation, to work with us to explore new ideas and advance the agriculture industry in the Peace Country.

As the Agriculture Research Technician, you will have the opportunity to be mentored by our Research Coordinator, and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the research process, from proposals, planning and implementation of research projects, to collecting, compiling and analyzing data and preparing research articles. 

You will receive training in both technical skills (fertilizer application rates, spraying techniques, seed bed prep, plot layout and mapping) as well as advanced theoretical skills (research project design, statistical analysis, and research report writing). 

The job will be fast-paced and diverse, and offers extensive opportunities for on the job education and networking, as well as a great mix of both office and field work.

Internship is for 6 months, with the possibility of evolving into a permanent position.  Start date is flexible, but must be between January 1st and May 1st, 2019.  Successful applicants must hold a degree or diploma from an accredited post secondary institution, or be graduating prior to start date.  An agriculture related field is preferred. Salary for the internship is $24/hour for an average of 40 hours/week, with some evenings and weekends required.
