We have been engaged by a manufacturing and distribution facility to assist them in finding a Quality Control Manager for their specialty fertilizer operation. With a focus on plant nutrients, this international company has strategically placed facilities to efficiently get their products to their customers.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, as the QC Manager, you will work closely with the other teams in Operations to ensure that the production process and quality control are streamlined and the products have the high quality our customers expect. You will have direct responsibility for the QC personnel and play an important role in both daily troubleshooting and long-term improvement projects. The position will be heavily involved in establishing and maintaining good and lean routines within Operations.

  • Lead and develop the QC department
  • Quality control of incoming raw materials
  • Quality control of all products for sale
  • Calibration and maintenance activities for equipment
  • Validation of equipment and analytical methods
  • Develop analytical methods and QC specifications for new products
  • Stability studies
  • Personnel responsibility for QC staff
  • Determine root causes of customer complaints and suggest solutions
  • Laboratory budgetary responsibilities
  • Establish systems to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies


  • Post-secondary degree within Chemistry, Agronomy or similar
  • Minimum of five years experience within quality control of products
  • Experience with validation of equipment and analytical methods
  • Experience with Six Sigma/Lean is an advantage
  • Proven experience in QC/QA management (preferred)
  • Chemical handling experience (preferred)
  • Familiarity, experience and/or certification in Six Sigma and ISO (strong advantage)
  • Good English skills both written and oral
  • Proficiency in standard business software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Manager experience is an advantage
  • Canadian Social Insurance Number (mandatory)
