We are assisting a major Saskatchewan equipment manufacturer to find a seasoned, highly capable SCMP to support the smooth and efficient operation of a massive logistics, procurement, & supply chain processes with a focus on steel procurement for the production of world-class construction, agronomic and earth-moving machinery. This role will lead a strategic plan to manage all raw-material procurement, including vendor/supplier negotiations, relationships, logistics, and transportation requirements.

What responsibilities will you have?

  • Leveraging your significant experience, education and leadership experience in procurement and inventory control in a high-volume, state of the art manufacturing environment, ensuring the implementation and maintenance of timely, efficient and cost-effective solutions, while working cross-departmentally with production, scheduling and others to ensure your internal customers needs are always met.
  • Your strong knowledge of Supply Chain Management and Logistics concepts is essential in order to analyze and interpret data to monitor performance and develop business improvement plans in support of key business objectives.
  • Your commitment to compliance will be vital as you manage waste materials for storage and disposal according to all local, provincial and federal regulations.
  • Your strong customer focus will be a valued asset as you support business development by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems and producing new solutions.
  • Utilizing your leadership experience and ability to work in a high-visibility, high-demand position, to allocate and manage staff and material resources according to changing business needs.
  • Your keen attention to detail will be a valued asset as you manage all material needs with regards to obsolescence, reworking to improve efficiencies and waste reduction and pursuing the appropriate disposition of returned, damaged, aged and off-spec inventory.
  • Your computer proficiency will be essential as you manage and control the order-cycle and associated information systems.
  • Successfully engaging across the organization, you will liaise and negotiate with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Enable greater personal success among employees through quality people development, coaching, and performance management
  • Liaise with multiple internal departments (manufacturing, customer support, engineering, quality, accounting, etc)
As a top candidate, you offer:
  • Post-secondary education in engineering/supply chain/procurement or agricultural manufacturing
  • 5+ years' plus experience in a steel manufacturing environment (steel, hardware) is critical
  • Strong technical experience in steel, manufacturing, and resources.
  • 15+ years' experience in strategic sourcing and procurement in a steel, equipment and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Exemplary and senior negotiation skills
  • Strong work ethic and character
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills and experience
  • HSE and QA experience
  • Six Sigma or LEAN experience would be ideal
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • A Canadian Social Insurance Number
