Strategic Account Manager

Location: SW Ontario office role, with travel required

This newly created role of Strategic Account Manager will be a key pillar of their Canadian growth strategy and will further demonstrate their commitment to and focus on 2 important and distinct market segments.


Major purpose of the position:


  • Responsible for the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, including extensive customer business plans, for incremental channel sales to strategic accounts within two key agricultural market segments.
  • Negotiate the structure and implementation of purchasing agreements/contracts with strategic accounts and executive level management.
  • Provide extensive customer relationship management through development of unique customer solutions and value propositions.



Key responsibilities of the position include:


  • Develop strategic business plan for growth within two key agricultural market segments.
  • Manage and execute customer relationships by leveraging principles of strategic account management.
  • Develop and execute strategic market and key account tactics to achieve strategic business plan.
  • Attend appropriate industry and farm show events relevant to strategic customers.
  • Participate in the delivery of regional training events for strategic accounts.
  • Conduct monthly customer interaction and dealer visits.
  • Prospect, identify, make recommendations, and develop plans to secure new business (investigating required at local level).
  • Responsible for achieving sales budget and targets.
  • This position will initially require travel between 70-80% then resume a travel schedule of approximately 40-50%.


Key requirements for the position include:


  • A University degree, ideally in Agricultural Science or Business, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to travel to meet business needs.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strategic account sales management experience.
  • Solid understanding of agricultural equipment, precision agriculture, agronomy and current modern intensive agricultural operations.
  • Knowledge of crop production systems both from a perspective of agronomy and customer pain points.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to executive level leadership and corporate clients.
